Dr. Maxine Ruddock, Ph. D, has been hosting a series of meetings for the women of Anthony House to explore issues uniquely affecting them in an effort to help Anthony House fulfill it’s mission of guiding them to independent living.

Through a grant from the Entertainment To Empowerment Foundation, Dr. Ruddock meets with the women guests on Wednesday mornings to consider ways of removing barriers to self sufficiency. Among the blocks to better living are: lack of a safe environment, abuse, poor employment and educational training. She uses a “…multifaceted approach to address multiple issues with…female guests.”

Using a cognitive-behavioral approach, the “women’s issues group will … provide the participants with tools for increasing their self-esteem and improving their decision making skills.”

Stay tuned for some very exciting success stories from this group!
