The impact of UK reuse charities must be supported to help achieve the UK\u2019s circular economy goals, according to a report released by\u00a0Reuse Network<\/a>.<\/h4>\n

Reuse Network says it is attempting to clear the barriers currently prohibiting the reuse sector from operating at full potential and supporting the UK government\u2019s circular economy goals.<\/p>\n

The charity argues that without policy reform and investment, the sector will struggle to continue delivering environmental and social benefits.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Reuse Network\u2019s Reuse Roadmap sets out five points that it is asking the UK Government to consider when developing its new\u00a0Circular Economy Strategy.<\/p>\n

These include:<\/p>\n

\u2013\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 breaking the link between waste and reuse by managing resources;<\/p>\n

\u2013\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 removing regulatory burdens\u00a0obstructing reuse;<\/p>\n

\u2013\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 upgrading to new recruits to manage large item waste;<\/p>\n

\u2013\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 supporting the existing reuse sector;<\/p>\n

\u2013\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and recognising and valuing the social benefits and\u00a0public savings created through reuse.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the roadmap, Craig Anderson, CEO of Reuse Network, said: \u201cFor decades, reuse charities have stepped in where policy has fallen short, ensuring that essential household goods remain accessible to those who need them most.<\/p>\n

\u201cYet, despite our environmental, social, and economic contributions, the value of the reuse sector has never been fully recognised or supported.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe UK Government must act now to remove restrictive policies and champion reuse in order to unlock its full potential in driving the circular economy forward. The time for recognition and action is long overdue.\u201d<\/p>\n
